There is historical significance to the Talmud and the normative Rabbinic process to engage basic Jewish concepts and norms to life's ordinary/extraordinary circumstances throughout Jewish history. Join Rabbi J and Rabbi Gedalya Jeremias for a survey and discussion on the way we decide halacha/Jewish Law, the difference between the Torah and the Oral Law (Mishnah, Talmud, the Codes, etc.), the legitimacy of Torah she Ba'al Peh/Oral law. Topics to be covered will include issues such as pandemics and epidemics, illness and medical treatment, end of life issues, birth defects, abortion, hygiene, personal space. (This list is meant to be illustrative only.) The class will meet by Zoom once a week at 8 p.m. Registration is required by emailing rabbij@atorah,org. Rabbi Gedalyah Jeremias has served in the pulpit and as an educator for over 25 years. He is an acknowledged master teacher and is currently an instructor and Director of Jewish Life at the New England Jewish Academy. He and Rabbi J were students at Kollel Lomdei Torah and has served as a scholar in residence many years ago at ATC.
