A nine-week series with Rabbi Richard Baroff D.D., Jewish Languages is a survey of the development of Hebrew as the language of the Jewish people from its paleo-Hebrew roots, common connections to other Semitic languages, its development into the language of religious discourse, the use of the vocalization system and rebirth into a living language in the modern period.  The course will also discuss the use of Aramaic as the second language of the Jewish people and touch upon the growth and popularity of three cognate vernaculars: Yiddish, Ladino and Judeo-Arabic.
