Yesod
The Yesod program was started at the request of students and parents in the school for a post Bar and Bat Mitzvah option for Jewish study to be held at ATC. We have now reached the end of our pilot year and are looking forward to exciting enhancements for next year. We have consulted with the participants in our program and have made major changes to improve it. Based on the input of parents and students, we will continue to hold the program on Sunday morning during Religious School hours. In addition to Modern Hebrew classes, the curriculum will be geared to culture - based topics and will be taught in a style directed at high school students. Students will have input into course topics and will be expected to actively participate in discussions. Topics may include Jewish ethics, current events, learning about different Jewish cultures around the world, modern Israel , Holocaust study, etc. Rabbi J will be an integral part of the teaching staff and lead many of these discussions. A more definite curriculum will be set in August and course decisions will be made based on student interest and teacher availability. In addition, we are exploring the option for 10th grade students to work towards confirmation. This will most likely consist of a combination of classroom work and community service with Rabbi J. More details will be available soon. We hope that you will decide to join us next year for this exciting class. Your early registration will help us in our planning. If you have any questions, please contact Rabbi J at 781-344-8733 or e-mail RabbiJ@atorah.org. Please click here for a printable application for our Yesod program.
